What is this place?
You succeed on your perception check. This space is where I’ll be sharing my board game design journey. I write about events that I’m running and hosting through Harrisburg Board Game Alliance and Break My Game, or conventions that I attend. I also will share progress on the games I develop and lessons during that process.
A midden is an archaeological refuse pile, a place where layers of discarded things build up over time into a treasure trove of information about the people who left them. This is my digital version of that.
Wait, who are you?
Your knowledge check tells you that Manda is a storyteller, play tester, dungeon master, crafter, creator, and now game designer. She developed her first game, The Establishment, during the 2020 Covid pandemic as a way to stay engaged with her friends. It allowed them to join her in a experience that discussed real-life events through the lens of a futuristic sci-fi setting. She successfully crowdfunded the game and it was released to backers in November 2024.
When not imagining new games, Manda cares for foster animals, teaches board games to new players, explores new crafting options in her workshop, and relaxes with her cats. She is Vice President of Harrisburg Board Game Alliance, a non-profit dedicated to growing the board game community in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She also runs a monthly playtesting event for Break My Game at her local friendly game store.
Her current life goal is to help build a community for game designers in the local area. A place to strengthen relationships, find real networking opportunities, grow as designers, and get our work seen by more people
